New Beginnings: Welcome to The Hawgood Perspective

Louise Hawgood relaxing on a sofa reading a book, welcoming readers to her new blog 'The Hawgood Perspective' about life coaching, ADHD, and chronic illness.

Hi, I’m Louise

If you’ve followed my journey at all, you’ll know that I’ve worn a few different hats over the years. Life coach, chronic illness warrior, mindfulness enthusiast, mental health advocate... I’ve experienced life from a lot of different perspectives. And all of those pieces come together to shape the way I coach and live today.

A Turning Point

In 2018, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, and it’s no understatement to say that moment completely shifted everything for me. Suddenly, my life didn’t look like what I thought it would, and I had to figure out how to adapt to the new normal that Fibro (and all the other health challenges that followed) brought with it.

But here’s the thing: I learned more about myself during that time than I ever could have imagined. I learned to ask the tough questions, get real with myself, and challenge the narratives that were keeping me stuck in a cycle of overwhelm. And I’m not just talking about physical health, either — this journey has been just as much about my mental and emotional well-being as it has been about my body.

From Struggle to Purpose

That’s when I realised something: there had to be a better way to approach life.
And maybe, just maybe, I could help others find it too.

This journey led me to a career change, from corporate life to life coaching, in 2023. I became a certified coach, an ADHD practitioner, and completed my Counselling Skills Level 2 training — all because I wanted to give people the tools to tackle their own mental health, chronic illness, and ADHD struggles. To give them a safe space to feel understood, validated, and empowered.

Why This Blog Exists

So, this blog?
It’s my attempt to do exactly that:
To create a space where people can find the kind of coaching and support they need — without the pressure or fluff.

Because if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that life doesn’t come with a manual. And sometimes, it doesn’t even come with a map. But that doesn’t mean we’re lost. We just need a little guidance — and that’s what I’m here for.

What You’ll Find Here

I’ve learned first-hand that tackling mental health and chronic illness isn’t just about checking boxes or following a set of rules. It’s about finding what works for you, in your own time, with a little grace and a whole lot of self-compassion.

This blog is here to share:

  • My own experiences

  • The lessons I’ve picked up along the way

  • The tools that have helped me manage both my health and my life in a more balanced, empowered way

In the coming posts, you can expect:

  • Strategies for managing ADHD and chronic illness

  • Mindfulness techniques that can be done in under five minutes (no, seriously!)

  • Real talk about mental health and self-care — what actually works, and what doesn’t

Real Talk Only

This isn’t going to be a space full of fluff or jargon — just straight talk about real life.
And it’s also going to be a place where I share the messy stuff — the stuff that doesn’t always get talked about, but that we all face when we’re juggling chronic health issues, mental health struggles, or the daily chaos of life.

Because let’s be real: life is messy.
But that doesn’t mean we have to go through it alone.

Thank You for Being Here

Whether you’re here because you’re struggling with your own health, dealing with ADHD, or just looking for some real talk and actionable advice to improve your mental health — I’m so glad you found this space.

This is a no-pressure zone where we’re all in it together, learning as we go and growing along the way.

So, let’s kick things off.
I’m excited to share what I’ve learned, and I’m even more excited to see where this journey takes us.
